Spotlight Friday: Carrie Brown, MSML joins the APTech team
We are excited to announce that Carrie Brown, MSML has recently joined the APTech team as a Subject Matter Expert. Carrie will be working with our expanding Training team and will provide support to APTech’s training and technical assistance initiatives from our Reno, Nevada office. In her new role, she will assist with facilitating events and trainings, coordinating outreach opportunities, and developing technical reports.
“We’re thrilled to have Carrie as part of our team,” said Kurt Smith, P.E., APTech’s State and National Agencies Program Director. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that not only broadens our technical competencies but also strengthens our ability to provide quality training and outreach services to our clients.”
Prior to joining APTech, Carrie had a long career in public health technical assistance and training initiatives. Most recently, she was the Interim Clinic Director for the Reno-Sparks Tribal Health Center. There she provided executive oversight of the clinic, executed contracts, guided programs, and developed clinic policies. Additionally, Carrie previously worked as a Tribal Traffic Safety Specialist for the Albuquerque Area Indian Health Board, where she developed training curricula, guidebooks, and marketing content. She also served as a Subject Matter Expert and Training Consultant for the University of Virginia, where she performed similar duties.
Carrie’s experience goes further than instructional systems design. She is also an accomplished instructor and has delivered many courses at the intersection of public health and transportation such as Child Passenger Safety Technician Certification, Safe Native American Passengers, Level 1 Injury Prevention, Level 2 Injury Prevention, Occupant Protection Data Collection, Cultural Competency In Program Development, Event Planning for Tribal Communities, and Countermeasures that Work: Selecting an Appropriate Intervention during previous employment.
