APTech’s Maggie Covalt Soaks up the Sun in California’s Wine Country at SWAAAE Summer Conference

Summer is peak travel season for APTech employees. Whether it’s to visit a project site, attend a conference, or take a vacation, our staff members spend many of these long, hot days on the move. And Vice President Maggie Covalt is no exception. She recently found herself in Sonoma County, California from July 10-13 at the 76th Annual Southwest Chapter of American Association of Airport Executives’ (SWAAAE) Summer 2022 Hybrid Conference.

The conference allowed airport staff and aviation professionals like APTech to come together over three days to discuss important topics that affect both groups, such as workforce development, sustainability practices, and the electrification of airports. The conference also facilitated roundtable discussions involving current events, challenges, and opportunities in the aviation industry. A full program guide of the events can be found on the SWAAAE website.

Maggie has been going to this event for over 20 years now and ensures that APTech’s airport pavement management expertise stays top-of-mind with its attendees. This year, APTech provided multiple sponsorships. In addition to general sponsorship of the conference, we also provided two door prizes that were handed out over the course of the event. APTech also sponsored a closest-to-the-pin competition, as part of the annual golf tournament.

“Sonoma County is a beautiful location that I enjoy visiting,” Maggie said. “In fact, I believe SWAAAE set a record attendance of over 250 people this year, which isn’t a surprise given where it was hosted!”

Besides the main location of the conference, attendees were also treated to receptions at the Kendall Jackson Winery and Charles Schulz Museum.
