A man and his daughter with Down syndrome standing in a baseball field.

Todd Hoerner, P.E.

Vice President and Technology Director

Todd’s interest in civil engineering started at an early age when his father owned his own general contractor business. He spent a lot of time on construction sites in his youth, seeing how projects transitioned from a design to a final product, and how problems got solved along the way. Those early experiences provided him with a foundational problem-solving approach and work ethic that he continues to use today to find practical and clever solutions to engineering problems.

Todd made his way to APTech in 2000 because of the people. Now, as a Vice President and APTech’s Technology Team Leader, Todd oversees the integral technology and software used by our staff and clients, including APTech’s signature web-based pavement management data visualization tool, IDEA. Todd has led APTech’s software development efforts in designing and developing many Windows and web-based software solutions for both clients and internal use.

In his free time, Todd’s hobbies include watching sports, woodworking, home improvement projects, and spending time with his family. Growing up in Champaign, Todd is an avid University of Illinois sports fan and you can routinely find him wearing orange. His love for sports and family have combined for the past 18 years and counting, as he has coached his daughter Colleen’s Tom Jones Challenger League baseball team—a local baseball league for children with developmental and physical disabilities. He also serves on the organization’s board.
