Ariel Rios ventures off the paved path at Al Zubara Fort in Qatar.

Ariel Rios recently joined the APTech team as an Engineering Associate in the Local Municipalities and Private Agencies (LMPA) program area. Ariel has over a decade of engineering and asset management experience, specializing in pavement condition assessment and right-of-way (ROW) inventory.

“Ariel’s years of experience with automated data collection and agency consulting provide greater depth to an already excellent team,” said Mark Gardner, APTech’s LMPA Program Director. “Ariel will help provide clients with quality information that will serve as the basis for long-term pavement management decisions.”

Prior to APTech

Ariel previously worked at AtkinsRéalis for over a decade, advancing from Pavement Technician to Project Manager. While there, Ariel led multiple infrastructure projects, improving pavement conditions and optimizing clients’ maintenance and rehabilitation budgets by 10%. He successfully analyzed and managed ROW assets for large-scale transportation projects across North America, ensuring accurate data collection and efficient asset allocation. Ariel also has extensive experience working with multiple software platforms, including PAVER, Cartegraph (now OpenGov), StreetSaver, VUEWorks, ArcGIS, and Earthshaper.

Immediate Contributions

While only at APTech for a few weeks, Ariel is already busy with project work. As he grows in his position at APTech, he hopes to hone his pavement management skills, collaborating with experienced engineers and serving as a mentor for those new in the field.

While not busy helping clients develop and optimize road maintenance programs, Ariel enjoys traveling, cooking, playing golf, and attending live sporting events.
