APTech’s Greg Duncan Receives Instructor of Excellence Award

APTech is proud to announce that Senior Engineer Greg Duncan, P.E. was recently given the Federal Highway Administration National Highway Institute’s (NHI) 2023 Instructor of Excellence Award.

This honor—previously awarded to Greg in 2019—stands as testament to his dedication to providing quality training to NHI students. He hopes to create effective and engaging learning experiences for his students with every training.

A Celebrated Career in Pavement Training

Greg currently serves as lead subject matter expert and instructor for several NHI courses, including 131139 Constructing and Inspecting Asphalt Pavement Projects and 134063 Maintenance Leadership Academy. He develops curriculum plans and material for these courses that cover topics ranging from pavement and bridge preservation, roadway drainage, and work zone safety.

In addition, Greg’s instructional prowess extends beyond the NHI—he often delivers training on pavement and engineering-related topics to transportation audiences through the United States. He has taught in-person and virtual pavement training courses to many state transportation agency practitioners, including Nevada, South Carolina, and Vermont. Recently, Greg delivered flexible pavement treatment selection trainings to North Carolina Department of Transportation agency personnel at several locations throughout the state.


 

About Greg

Greg is a Senior Engineer at APTech and manages the firm’s Spokane, Washington office. He has over 30 years of transportation engineering experience in pavement materials, construction, and roadway maintenance.

Greg’s expertise lies in pavement preservation and maintenance treatments, including repairing distress at longitudinal paving joints and using reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) in pavement preservation treatments like chip seals, slurry seals, and microsurfacing.
