APTech staff presents at TRB’s National Conference on Transportation Asset Management

From July 9 to July 12, APTech staff members attended and presented at the 14th National Conference on Transportation Asset Management. This event was hosted by the Transportation Research Board (TRB) and took place in Boston, Massachusetts.

As a part of this technical conference, Executive Vice President Katie Zimmerman, P.E., Pavement Engineer Prashant Ram, P.E., and Transportation Asset Management Engineer Drake Builta, P.E. were tapped to provide the following presentations:

  • Monday, July 10 from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. Prashant moderated “Infrastructure Resilience: How Do We Adapt to the Unknown Unknowns” and presented “Impacts of Wildfires on Pavement Systems” as part of this session.

  • Monday, July 10 from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. Drake presented “Shakecast: An Automated Warning System for Monitoring Seismic Activity and Alerting Stakeholders to the Possible Need for Post-event Inspections” as part of the “Building Infrastructure Resilience: How Do We Adapt to the Unknown Unknowns.”

  • Monday, July 10 from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. Katie presented “How Do We Get Included in the Next TAMP? A Playbook for Ancillary Assets,” as part of the “Sweat the Small Stuff: Managing Ancillary Assets” session.

In addition to these sessions, Katie and Senior Engineer Brad Allen, P.E. also contributed to the workshop titled, “Input for the Updates to the Digital Edition of the Transportation Asset Management Guide NCHRP 08-137 Project” on Sunday. This workshop provided attendees a preview of the new digital edition of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) TAM Guide and allowed for feedback on further improvements to enhance the Guide’s effectiveness.
