APTech is paving the way for updated pavement preservation practices.

To encourage the use of strategic pavement preservation on all U.S. roadways, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) commissioned APTech to study pavement preservation practices of state Department of Transportations (DOTs) and conduct a gap analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of pavement preservation processes.

The report is the result of an extensive study that included a detailed gap analysis, focusing on the successful implementation strategies of pavement preservation programs. The primary objective was to evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of these programs, ensuring long-term performance and sustainability of pavement infrastructures.

Key findings from the report emphasize the critical need for improved monitoring and modeling of preservation performance. Additionally, it highlights the necessity of incorporating preservation performance metrics into treatment and project selection processes. These insights are essential for DOTs aiming to optimize their pavement preservation efforts and achieve better long-term results.

APTech remains committed to advancing the field of pavement preservation through innovative research and practical solutions. The full report is available on the FHWA’s website.
