Kyle Potvin, P.E.

Vice President and Program Director, State Airport Agencies

Kyle’s passion for aviation started around the time he learned to walk. Growing up in a small lakeside town in Michigan, Kyle spent many weekends with his grandfather at the local airport—a short turf runway with one hangar and a shack for a terminal. He often took the controls of his grandfather’s plane while flying around the area.

Today, Kyle is a Vice President and the Program Director of the State Aviation Agencies program at APTech and manages the firm’s Waunakee, Wisconsin office. He has been involved with airport pavement management system projects for dozens of state aviation agencies, commercial airports, and military installations. He has conducted more than 1,300 PCI inspections over his career and is a nationally recognized expert in the methodology. Additionally, Kyle is a voting member of the ASTM Committee responsible for standards covering pavement management systems, pavement testing methods, and PCI inspection, and he is a member of the TRB Standing Committee on Pavement Management Systems—AKT10.

An outdoorsman through and through, Kyle loves both of Wisconsin’s seasons (if you know, you know). He looks forward to skiing season and teaching others how to ski as a part-time alpine ski instructor at his local resort. Golfing, fishing, and camping season are also among his favorites—his grandmother taught him how to play golf at age 6 and has played regularly ever since. Fishing and camping allow Kyle to disconnect and recharge while enjoying nature and the great outdoors.
