Gen looking out over a vista in Acadia National Park

Genevieve Long, P.E., LEED AP

Vice President and Program Director, Commercial Airports and Department of Defense

As her first career out of college, Gen has gained over two decades worth of engineering experience while at APTech. Today, Gen serves as a Vice President and the Director of the firm’s Commercial Airport and Department of Defense program. Her technical expertise includes pavement management, evaluation, design, and training, with a focus on the airport industry.

Gen’s technical expertise in pavement management, evaluation, design, and training have greatly aided many airport clients in developing best practices to keep their pavements functional. Gen is known as an expert in her field when it comes to the FAA’s shift to using Pavement Classification Ratings. She recently served as an instructor for the ACC webinar, “Pavement Condition Rating – The FAA’s New Standard for Reporting Airfield Pavement Strength (Advisory Circular 150/5335-5D).”

Gen didn’t take a commercial flight until high school, but quickly fell in love with travel and has found working with commercial airport clients across North America (and beyond) to be a wonderful experience. Even when not on-site looking at airport pavements or meeting with clients, she feels connected with the wider world.

Outside the office, you can find Gen enjoying the great outdoors on camping trips or in her vegetable garden, training for her next race, or spending time with her family.
