On August 25, the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Airport Engineering Division organized a significant meeting at the FAA Headquarters in Washington, DC, bringing together a consortium of consultants from the Airport Consultants Council (ACC), including those from APTech. This dynamic gathering provided a platform for in-depth discussions on various critical topics, including airport design, construction specifications and safety protocols, and airfield electrical systems.

The meeting was marked by a lively exchange of ideas and insights, reflecting the shared commitment of both the FAA and ACC to advance the aviation industry through collaboration. All parties indicated great value in the meeting and expressed a desire to continue such collaboration efforts.

A notable participant in the discussions was APTech President Monty Wade, P.E. Monty’s expertise in pavement engineering played a pivotal role in the proceedings, offering valuable insights into topics such as automated data collection, surface treatments, warm-mix asphalt, and longitudinal joint construction. His contributions were instrumental in guiding the conversation towards innovative solutions and best practices that will help shape the future of airport infrastructure.

The FAA’s initiative in hosting this gathering and the active involvement of ACC consultants underscored the importance of collaboration. As the aviation sector continues to evolve, such meetings will ensure airports, consultants, and governing bodies continue to communicate and cooperate effectively.
