Carrie Brown to present Active Listening for Center Programs at NLTAPA Annual Conference

Practice your active listening skills by attending Carrie’s presentation at the 2023 NLTAPA Conference

Carrie Brown, MSML, subject matter expert for APTech and Nevada Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) Director, is set to deliver the presentation “Active Listening to Expand Center Programs” in conjunction with the NLTAPA Communications Workgroup at the upcoming National Local Technical Assistance Program Association (NLTAPA) Annual Conference. The event is scheduled from July 17 to July 20, with Carrie’s presentation taking place on July 19.

Carrie’s presentation will be moderated by Denise Brown from the North Dakota LTAP, and she will be joined by Marilee Enus from New Hampshire LTAP and Brittany Cloyd from the Kentucky LTAP as speakers for the session. Carrie will share valuable strategies on getting in the door with local agencies, utilizing public engagement techniques, offering recommendations on advisory committee interactions and functions, and sharing practical lessons learned from her experiences in the field.

The session focuses on the continuous growth and expansion of LTAP centers, which continually strive to enrich their portfolios with new programs, initiatives, and workshops. Carrie’s presentation will provide attendees the opportunity to gain insights from centers that have successfully employed strategic planning sessions, advisory panels, and active listening techniques. By going beyond traditional surveys, these centers delve deeper into the needs of today’s road agency team members, as well as prepare the future workforce. Tapping into the voices of local agencies allows LTAP centers to take their planning efforts to the next level.

The NLTAPA Annual Conference provides an excellent platform for professionals in the local technical assistance program field to exchange knowledge, discuss best practices, and explore innovations. Though Carrie’s presentation is just one of many on the agenda, it promises to be a highlight of the event, offering actionable insights to enhance center programs and benefit road agency professionals.
