“APTech always looks forward to supporting ICMPA. The conference is a unique venue for sharing and learning about advances in pavement management,” said Brad Allen, Senior Engineer. “In addition, many of us have friends here and it’s a great opportunity to catch up while discussing pavement and asset management.”

Day 1

During this conference, the APTech team will have several members of its team presenting on recently published papers and their findings. During the Day 1 slot, scheduled for Wednesday, June 8 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., both Peter-Paul Dzwilewski and Prashant Ram will all be presenting. Details are as follows:

  • Session on Airport Pavement Management Systems (PMS): Evaluation of Estimated Asphalt Repair Quantities within Airfield Pavement Management.
Presented by Peter-Paul Dzwilewski, Pavement Engineer.

  • Session on PMS Parameters (Deterioration, DST, etc): Development of Pavement Condition Crosswalk and Reporting Procedures for Federal Lands Management Agencies.
Presented by Prashant Ram, Pavement Engineer.

In addition to the early timeslot on Day 1, the APTech team will continue to lead discussions during the afternoon portion of ICMPA. From 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Katie Zimmerman and Max Grogg will be hosting sessions, with Peter-Paul Dzwilewski speaking in the 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. timeslot.

  • Session on PMS Innovation: Lessons Learned in Pavement Management: What’s Needed to Remain Relevant?
Presented by Katie Zimmerman, Executive Vice President.

  • PMS Parameters (Deterioration, DST, etc.): Incorporating Pavement Smoothness Benefits to Enhance the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Pavement Type Determination Process.
Presented by Max Grogg, Senior Engineer.

  • Session on PMS Innovation: The Use of GPS-Based Distress Mapping for Pavement Maintenance.
Presented by Peter-Paul Dzwilewski, Pavement Engineer.

Day 2

On Thursday, June 9 Prashant Ram will be speaking again during the 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. timeslot. He will be a part of the Life-Cycle Analysis Session, presenting on two topics. First, the paper he collaborated on, Remaining Service Interval (RSI): A Framework for Life-Cycle Planning for Pavements, followed by Pilot Implementation of Life-Cycle Planning Process for Pavements. After these presentations, APTech staff members will conclude their talks but will attend other technical sessions.

“A lot of hard work went into these research topics, and everyone is excited to get finally get to present at ICMPA,” said Peter Dzwilewski. “We are looking forward to discussing these topics with other pavement engineers since the initial abstracts were developed in early 2019.”

ICMPA is a conference that provides an international forum for researchers, academics, and practitioners to share best practices. With a focus on management of road, airport, and other related assets, experts are able to come together and share strategies and findings with one another. This year’s theme is “Pavement Management: Paving the Way to Asset Management,” and a full agenda can be found here.
