Spotlight Friday: Ben Naghavi joins the APTech team

APTech is proud to welcome Benyamin (Ben) Naghavi to our team as an Engineering Associate in the State Aviation Agencies program area. Ben brings more than 10 years of engineering experience to APTech, with a focus on managing airport projects.

“We are excited to welcome Ben to APTech and the State Aviation Agencies team,” said Kyle Potvin, APTech’s State Aviation Agencies Program Director. “Ben’s experience in airport pavement management systems, evaluation, and engineering will not only benefit our team but also our clients and aviation partners throughout the US.”

Prior to APTech

Before joining APTech, Ben spent six years with the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics (ODAA). He managed pavement inspections of over 30 airports annually, analyzing pavement condition data using PAVER, updating ODAA’s Airport Pavement Management System and providing reports for each airport. Additionally, Ben used geotechnical information, survey data, FAA Advisory Circulars, fleet mix, and airport information to provide alternatives and cost estimates for the rehabilitation of airport pavements.

Ben also has experience as a geotechnical engineer, which involved working with geotechnical proposals and reports and communicating with project stakeholders, conducting site visits, and troubleshooting problematic sites. Ben has also conducted various in-situ tests for soils and pavements, using Pressuremeter Tests, Dilatometer Test, Falling Weight Deflectometers, and Ground Penetrating Radar.

Immediate Contributions

Ben is looking forward to expanding his pavement engineering expertise at APTech, particularly in the areas of pavement inspection and condition assessment. He is ready to further develop his skills with specialized software tools such as PAVER, FAARFIELD, and ArcGIS to enhance data analysis and support effective pavement design and maintenance strategies.

When Ben is not at APTech, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, savoring a good meal, or working on small projects that keep him engaged and learning.
