APTech awarded Urbana, Illinois pavement engineering contract
APTech was recently chosen to provide pavement management support services for the City of Urbana, Illinois. We have partnered with the agency for their pavement management needs since 2018 and look forward to continuing this partnership with the city where APTech is headquartered.
This latest project will be led by Luis Sibaja, P.E, who has worked with the City since its pavement management system implementation. Luis has also lent his expertise to many other APTech local agency clients, such as Rockford, Illinois and Carson City, Nevada.
The City has identified some typical challenges that many agencies face when maintaining their roadway networks. Like much of the country’s roadway infrastructure, many areas of the City’s network are aging—the average age of highways and streets in the U.S. is 28.4 years. APTech will work with the City to continue improving its pavement network by updating its pavement management system and developing customized maintenance plans. Over time, an emphasis on prioritizing preservation and maintenance will be the most cost-effective and practical way to maintain Urbana’s target levels of service.
